They must be employed as Technologists in any Nigerian Polytechnic with relevant minimum qualification either HND , B.Tech or equivalent . Technologist who got converted to other cadre that have passions for promotion and interest of Technologist.

BRIEF PROFILE OF THE ACADEMIC TECHNOLOGISTS UNION OF POLYTECHNICS (ATUP)

The Academic Technologists Union of Polytechnics (ATUP), Nigeria is currently under review to be a registered Trade Union (CAP 437 of 1990). The Union is going to be an affiliation of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). The Union intends to link up with other Unions in the Education sector, particularly in the tertiary sub-sector, within prescribed limits in its constitution. The Union serves to protect and promote members’ interests as well as that of the Technical Education sub-sector and the Education sector in general. Membership of the Union covers all Academic Technologists in all public Polytechnics and Monotechnics in Nigeria.

Membership of the Union covers all Academic Technologists (Technologists and Instructors) in all public Polytechnics and Monotechnics in Nigeria.

MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

Members must be such that carried - out their duties in academic programmes , Units and centres in Nigerian Polytechnics and Monotechnics. They must be employed as Technologists in any Nigerian Polytechnic with relevant minimum qualification either HND , B.Tech or equivalent . Technologist who got converted to other cadre that have passions for promotion and interest of Technologist welfare are eligible too. The scope of eligibility shall be exclusively for Technologists working in the Polytechnics and Monotechnics, NOT self-employed individuals, even though certified professional technologists.

Enlistment of members shall be done by the various chapters of the Union across the six geo-political zones, upon completion of the membership registration form designed by the National Executive Council. Dual membership of unions shall not be allowed.
